God gives you more
"So take care how you listen; for whoever has, to him more shall be given." - Luke 8:18
Jesus
The more you want to listen to God, the more you will hear from Him.
God, the Holy Spirit, gives you more insight, knowledge and understanding each day as you lean in to listen to Him. His “light” makes you more aware of what He wants to show you.
Jesus says there are four characteristics of listening ears.
“But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance. – Luke 8:15
Listen honestly
When you hear the truth don't turn away. Truth can be painful, but truth puts you on a path of light. Truth sets you free. Keep an honest heart.
Do the right thing
Listen with a desire to do what God says. His path is narrow, but He knows the way to life. Seeking "His good" satisfies your soul. Strive for a good heart.
Hold on to truth
God's truth can be difficult, but don't compromise. There are many voices in your world. Focus on what God says is true. Hold fast the truths of God.
Grow in strength
Listen to what God says and trust Him! He helps you do what he says. Be patient. Spiritual growth takes time but brings great fulfillment in life. Bear spiritual fruit patiently.

Jesus
The less you want to hear from God, the less you are aware of His voice.
As you turn from listening to God, He removes your insight, knowledge, and understanding. God is your spiritual “light” and the less you have of Him the less you are aware of His voice.
Jesus says we limit what we hear from God because of three major reasons…
Don't care to listen
You really don't want to know what God thinks. Your heart is like a hard path and you do not believe or accept what God says. You simply don't care to listen.
Shallow desire for God
You want to hear from God, but He is not really a priority. God is outside the main trajectory of your life. You just don't want to go very deep with Him.
The cluttered heart
You are willing to hear from God, but other things get in the way. You worry. Your faith is weak. Your more interested in your own pleasures and things than you are in God.
Jesus
"Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved. "Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. "The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity." - Luke 8:11-14

Learn to hear from God
One of the most important discoveries in life is learning to hear God. Amazing things happen as you become more aware of the reality of God in your life.
Life can become confusing and sometimes you have to wait on God for clarity. Patience is key. But God always makes Himself aware to those who seek Him with their whole heart.
